Day 427 – Wednesday, June 25th 2014 Catching a ferry for Le Havre at 10:30pm was our sole objective for the day. Now we’d been in this game long enough, and we know our truck sufficiently that we were leaving plenty of margin, arriving in the port town in time for lunch. With time to … Continue reading

India, Step 1 – Setting Ivor Free
Day 131 – Monday, September 2nd 2013 Finally we touched down in that most exotic and exciting of destinations – India. For us the country would be the turning point from which we would start the return leg of our journey, and it also represented the greatest unknown. Travel writers love to romanticise it, backpackers … Continue reading
Captivity in Chengdu – China, Week 4
Day 78 – Thursday, July 11th 2013 Still no answer for David. We all came to the conclusion that we should wait in Chengdu until either he was flown out of there, or until his wife managed to get into China – it was not possible for her to fly immediately, since it takes a … Continue reading
Uzbekistan – Land of the Ancient Khanates
Day 37 – Friday, May 31st 2013 Back as a twosome once more, it was good to leave the Turkmen nonsense behind us – here the only restriction was that we were supposed to stop in at a guesthouse every few days to register our whereabouts. Laos and beyond…
We’ve made it through China okay, looking forward to the next section of our adventure. The cheeky Chinese internet police wouldn’t let us post anything while we were there, so we must apologize on their behalf for letting the day-to-day story slip a little. The good news is that we’ve written loads more of it, … Continue reading

Kickin’ back in Kyrgyzstan
Hello to all of our loyal followers… we have been bad bloggers, but without access to WiFi we are limited in what we can share. This is just another quick post to say we are safe and sound in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. We are getting ourselves and Ivor ready for the grand voyage across China which … Continue reading
Departing Baku!
Well sorry for the silent treatment everyone! This is just a quick update to say we are about to board our ship in Baku to cross the Caspian sea to get to Turkmenistan. We’ll be back in touch after we land!
La Reunion
Having met the last challenge of arriving in Istanbul in time to board filghts, our next dose of adventure would come in the form of a week on the volcanic Ile de la Reunion, which rises dramatically through the Indian Ocean off the coast of Madagascar. Our excuse for this part of our holiday was … Continue reading
